Police Arrest Russian Mobster, Accuse Him Of Involvement In Lil Phat Murder
Lil Phat was killed last June and a mobster could be responsible for his death.
Three of the four men charged in the June 2012 killing of rapper Lil Phat are already in custody and apparently one of them has ties to the Russian mafia.
According to a report by Atlanta’s Channel 2 News, Mani Chulpayev is accused of hiring hit men to kill the Baton Rouge rapper to reportedly silence Lil Phat about shady car deals.
Chulpayev’s lawyer, George Plumides told reporters his client is innocent and prosecutors have no evidence against him.
“Mani had nothing against this kid, and grieved when he found out he got killed,” he said. “They put him out of business and they have nothing.”
Last June, Phat was the victim of a fatal shooting outside Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was shot several times in a parked car on the second level of a parking deck.
Master P Unhappily Surprised By Flash Mob For His Birthday
Master P’s birthday isn’t for two days but that didn’t stop a flash mob from surprising him for that occasion.
Out to lunch yesterday with his son Romeo in Santa Monica, P was not expecting and entertained by a flash mob that formed only feet from him and his team.
In a video surfaced by TMZ, during middle of the flash mob’s performance of Psy’s “Gangnam Style” the No Limit founder got up and left.
Walking away from the restaurant a woman ran up to Master P and asked him to return for the rest of the performance. She was heard explaining, “Don’t leave … it’s your birthday.”
Trina’s Brother Shot, Suspect Arrested & Confessed To Murder
Yesterday morning (April 23), Wilbrent “Gronk” Bain (pictured) was murdered on 91st Street & 24th Avenue in Miami, Florida. Bain was fatally shot at around 9:30 am local time, after he was involved in an altercation with a man said to be on a bicycle. The deceased is the brother of former Slip-N-Slide Records star Trina, who is known for her hits “Here We Go,” “Pull Over” and “Million Dollar Girl.”
Less than 24 hours later, Miami-Dade Police claim to have arrested the lead suspect. Twenty-seven year-old Ron Dobson was arrested hours after the murder, and remains in police custody through this morning, according to NBC 6. Reports indicate that Dobson confessed to the crime upon the reading of his Miranda Rights.
Bain had previously survived a 2008 shooting. NBC’s local affiliate reports that he was a lifelong Miami native, with a previous arrest record including domestic violence, burglary, gun possession and additional offenses.
Trina has not yet spoken publicly about the issue.
Reports claim Gucci Mane & Young Scooter are Sharing Cell At DeKalb County Jail
Earlier this month, two members of Brick Squad 1017 were arrested and incarcerated in Atlanta, Georgia’s nearby DeKalb County. Brick Squad’s founder and leader, Gucci Mane was arrested for a probation violation on April 12. The event came less than 24 hours after Gucci was released on $75,000 bond, from Fulton County Jail, as he awaits trial on a aggravated assault charge. Amidst those reports, it was also revealed that BS1017 affiliate Young Scooter was also arrested, on April 8, for his own probation violation during a traffic stop.
MTV Rap Fix has learned that the two collaborators are believed to be sharing a cell at DeKalb County Jail. Earlier this year, they released Free Bricks 2, a free mixtape. The report did not specify the cell-size, which could hold many inmates at one time.
Both rapper’s releases are unclear at this time.
Coolio arrested for assaulting his girlfriend after bringing another woman home
Coolio should know better than to bring another woman home to the house he shares with his girlfriend … and he should also know better than to allegedly punch her in the face.
TMZ has learned the rap legend — aka Artis Ivey Jr. — was popped on April Fools’ Day after he allegedly pushed Anabella Chatman to the ground and punched her in the face. And to add insult to injury … according to the police report, Coolio then hightailed it out of there with their toddler son and the other woman.
Actually … he didn’t get out clean. Anabella says Coolio struck her with his car as he beat his hasty retreat — in fact, cops say she had tire marks on her leg. Pretty compelling evidence.
Coolio tried convincing cops HE was the victim and that she scratched him in a jealous rage, but they weren’t buyin’ what he was sellin’ … so he was taken to the pokey.
Lauryn Hill pleading for mercy before court date this month on not paying taxes
Lauryn Hill claims she stiffed Uncle Sam on a massive tax bill for the same reason she fell off the map after the ’90s — scary threats to her and her family.
Lauryn just filed legal docs asking for mercy before her sentencing later this month, claiming there was a good reason she failed to file tax returns for 2005, ’06 and ’07 … when she earned a total of more than $1.8 million. She already pled guilty and faces several years in prison.
According to docs … Lauryn stopped paying taxes “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”
She’s not specific about the threats — but it’s a new explanation for her mysterious disappearance from the music scene after her rise to fame in the ’90s.
Lauryn previously claimed she went underground to get back in touch with her musical roots.
Lauryn’s asking the court to consider a bunch of other factors before her sentencing — including her claim that she can pay off the debt much faster if she’s not behind bars.
Lauryn is begging for probation. A judge will be merciful — or not — on April 22.
Gucci Mane Arrested Hours After Bond Posted
Yesterday, Atlanta, Georgia rapper Gucci Mane was released from custody after being incarcerated since March 26. The Warner Bros. Records star and his lawyer were believed to have posted the $75,000 bond to allow the rapper freedom. Previous statements indicated that Gucci would be taken to DeKalb County, where his was on probation from a previous misdemeanor violation.
It appears that Gucci Mane never reported to the court. TMZ reports that within one day of his release, Gucci was apprehended today for a probation violation.
Details are still emerging, but the Brick Squad 1017 leader is believed to be back in custody at this time. Gucci was presently pending trial on an aggravated assault charge, for battering a U.S. soldier with a bottle, which he was indicted for earlier in the week.
“No Contest” is final verdict on ex-GF tried to sue Lakers Jordan Hill
Lakers forward Jordan Hill’s ex-girlfriend is suing him over an alleged domestic violence incident — the same incident he pled no contest to in criminal court last year … TMZ has learned.
According to the suit filed by Darlene Luna today in L.A. County … she and Hill got in a knock-down, drag-out fight at his Houston apartment back in February, 2012.
Luna alleges Hill punched her in the legs multiple times … “as if they were punching bags” — and also threw her down and put her in “a choke-hold, constricting her throat for a terrifying duration.”
Hill was charged criminally for the incident last year and struck a deal — getting a one-year deferred sentence and a $500 fine in exchange for his ‘no contest’ plea.
Luna is now seeking unspecified damages. She’s represented by Gloria Allred.
A call to Hill’s rep has not been returned.
