Rush Limbaugh Criticizes Beyonce Over “Bow Down”
Fans and critics are split down the middle when it comes to Beyonce’s newest track, the expletive-laden “Bown Down.”
One media figure, however, has made his thoughts on the track quite clear.
Rush Limbaugh took Beyonce to task for her new song. The conservative talk show host, who has butted heads with Hip Hop artists many times in the past, took offense at Beyonce’s new track.
“Their (Destiny’s Child) songs were attempts to inspire young women not to take any grief from men,” said Limbaugh. “She’s done a 180. Beyoncé, now having been married, having been impregnated and giving birth to Blue Ivy, she’s going out on a new tour. And they may as well call it the ‘Bow Down Bitch Tour.’”
Limbaugh provided an analysis of Beyonce’s latest track, complaining that the song encourages women to be subservient to men. “She’s got a new song … a total 180. Beyoncé is now saying, ‘Go ahead and put up with it.’ Because she married a rich guy. She’s even calling herself Mrs. Carter on the tour. She now understands it’s worth it to bow down.”
Adele And Beyonce For Michelle Obama: Singers Reportedly Booked For First Lady’s Birthday
Preparations are already underway for Michelle Obama’s big 50th birthday next January, and two of music’s biggest acts have reportedly been booked for the occasion.
An unnamed (and potentially questionable) source told the UK’s Daily Mail that the first lady has asked Beyonce and Adele to perform at her party.
“America’s first lady will be holding a huge celebrity-packed party for her birthday at the White House next year and, as she adores Adele and Beyonce, she has asked them both to sing,” an unnamed source told The Daily Mail. “Adele has graciously accepted and waived her usual fee for the high-profile private performance. She will sing a selection of her most-loved hits for the first lady and her friends.”
Beyonce has a long-standing relationship with the Obamas. The singer famously performed at President Obama’s inauguration earlier this year, and, along with her husband Jay-Z, was a major supporter of Obama during his run for presidency and reelection. Beyonce also wrote the first lady a birthday card earlier this year for her 49th. “Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing that [you] do for us,” Beyonce wrote. “I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.”
Michelle Obama will turn 50 on January 17, 2014.
Jay-Z & Roc Nation Sign Publishing Deals With Warner/Chappelle,Is Beyonce Next?
Jay-Z just landed a major new business partner. The rapper/mogul and Roc Nation have signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell a division of the Warner Music Group.
The “On To The Next One” rapper has long had his publishing represented by EMI Music Publishing, which was taken over by Sony/ATV last year. However, shortly thereafter an exec by the name of Jon Platt left the fold for rival Warner/Chappell. It seems like “Big Jon” was able to convince Jigga to make that move, too.
The New York Times reports:
Led by Mr. Platt (a 6-foot-8 figure widely known in the industry as Big Jon), Warner/Chappell has signed Jay-Z to a publishing administration deal for his future work as well as his music since 2008. Through a separate deal, Warner/Chappell will also represent the songwriters at Jay-Z’s entertainment and management company, Roc Nation.
Among those writers are Philip Lawrence, a part of the Smeezingtons songwriting and production team that also includes Bruno Mars; Symbolyc One, or S1, who has written hits with Kanye West, Beyoncé and 50 Cent; and Rita Ora, a rising young British singer and songwriter.
According to two people briefed on the talks, Mr. Platt is also said to be in advanced negotiations with another top EMI Publishing artist who is very close to Jay-Z: Beyoncé, his wife. These people spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks were private.
Music publishers assure that songwriters get their money and also help land song placements. Considering the amount of hits Jay-Z has dropped since 2008 and can still potentially create, calling this a coup, even without Beyoncé, is an understatement.
During Platt’s time at EMI he signed A-list songwriting talent including Drake and Kanye West, which makes many wonder if Jay-Z’s joining will open the floodgates for artist to ditch their publishers to join Warner/Chappell.
While this is a good business move for all involved, Jay-Z also note that the long friendship he has had with Platt for making it happen.
“The real meaning of success is being in the position to work with an individual you consider a friend,” said Jay-Z in a statement. “Jon Platt is such a person. He’s a man of extraordinary character as well as a remarkably talented executive with an ear for music and an eye for talent. It’s great to watch him grow to be one the best in the business.”

Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake To Headline Wireless Festival 2013 In London
Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s rumored tour together is starting to come together. One of the first clues is the duos upcoming performance headlining the Wireless Festival in London.
The loaded line-up will be headlined by the “Suit & Tie” collaborators on July 12th and July 13th. On the first day, additional performers include Frank Ocean, John Legend, Miguel, Snoop Dogg and Trey Songz with Timberlake closing the night of the 12th.
On the night of the 13th Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, DJ Fresh, Emeli Sande, Miguel and Rita Ora will precede Jigga’s closing set. Mr. Timberlake and Mr. Carter are rumored to taking their show on the road for a 10-city stadium tour in the Summer according to multiple sources.
Rumors arose of a potential joint tour from Timberlake and Carter shortly after their show-stealing performance at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards that took place two weeks ago. This also comes off the heels of Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé announcing “The Mrs. Carter Show,” a tour that will span the globe during most of the calendar year.
Justin Timberlake’s third solo album, The 20/20 Experience, is scheduled for a March 19th release.
