The devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy has been well-documented. Artists have gone into action by planning benefit concerts.

One such star-studded even will be “12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief to Benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fun,” which will take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday (December 12), and will feature Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and many more.

Billboard reports that the concert will be streamed live for those who will not be able to attend.

The show is expected to take over four hours. The Robin Hood Relief Fund will aid disaster victims following the storm, which left many without power and homes in the wake of the devastating super-storm Sandy.

Fans can also visit Fuse to watch exclusive artist interviews about the benefit concert.

Text messaging celebrates 20-year anniversary

Monday is a special anniversary for the communications industry. It was 20 years ago that Neil Papworth sent the first ever text message.

Papworth, a British engineer, was 22-years-old when he sent the first ever Short Messaging Service (SMS) from his computer to a friend’s cell phone.

The message simply read: “Merry Christmas.”

Texting had a slow start, but eventually it surged in popularity, especially when it became cheaper than calling.

It is the single most-widely used application in the world – 81-percent of mobile phone subscribers use it.

Now, free alternatives like instant messaging apps are becoming more and more popular, and text messaging is in decline.

According to Britain’s independent communications industries regulator OFCOM, more than 150 billion texts were sent in 2011 alone.

The most frequent texters in the UK are 12 to 15 year olds, who send an average of 193 per week.

Airport worker accused of throwing eggs at Saints bus quits

An official with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport told CBS Atlanta News on Monday that the lone airport restaurant worker who was responsible for egging a New Orleans Saints bus has quit his job.

It all started Wednesday with a tweet from Saints tight end Jimmy Graham. He tweeted, “Bus got egged after landing in ATL by the ramp workers. Classy! “RISE Up” smh.”

Myrna White said the employee, who she did not name, is suspected of hitting the charter bus with two or three eggs.

Department of Aviation officials at the airport confirmed that after being questioned by police, the employee quit his job.

Officials said the employee’s security badge has been deactivated, revoking all access to the airport, and the company will be fined.

The Department of Aviation has now closed its investigation.

Joe Budden Kicks Out Concert Attendee Following A Comment They Made On Twitter

A concertgoer in Oakland, California was unexpectedly escorted out of a Joe Budden show yesterday (November 28) after Tweeting about how “dead” it was at the New Jersey rapper’s concert. HipHopWired.com reports that the woman, who was attending the show with a friend, sent numerous Tweets expressing her disinterest with seeing Budden perform.

She even went so far as to post a picture of a package of NoDoz caffeine tablets on her Twitter page along with the caption, “For the Budden concert tonight.”

Budden somehow discovered the less than enthusiastic Tweets and reportedly informed security that he would not perform unless the woman was escorted from the venue.

“So we are upstairs at VIP [and the] security asks me if I’m Paige,” said the woman via Twitter, according to HipHopWired.com. “I said, ‘yes.’ And they say ‘Joe Budden wants you out. I feel flattered though, they said they showed my twitter picture and found me in the club.”

The Slaughterhouse spitter has yet to respond to the incident via Twitter or through any other public outlet.

Former Ghostwriter Debunks Myth That Suge Knight Assaulted Vanilla Ice

One of Hip Hop’s most notorious tall-tales is that the infamous Suge Knight dangled Vanilla Ice off a hotel balcony in order to extort back-end publishing credits for his hit “Ice Ice Baby.” Now, in a recent interview with LA Weekly, one of Ice’s ghostwriters claims that the incident is false.

Mario “Chocolate” Johnson, a former collaborator of Vanilla Ice, alleges that Suge Knight never put his hands on the Miami rapper. Johnson, who was managed Knight at the time of the reported incident, recalled the hotel meeting between Ice, Knight and himself, saying that their lawsuit for producer credits was handled professionally and without any threat of violence from either party.

“We knew where [Vanilla Ice] was staying because I was supposed to be hearing some tracks he was doing. He wanted me to come by myself. But Suge said, ‘I’m going with you,’” he recalled. “When we went to the hotel that day, it was strictly for conversation. Nobody got pushed – nobody argued, no shoving – nothing…when we got there everything was peaceful. Attorney David Kenner showed up, took a statement, and we got all our paperwork together. We didn’t make [Vanilla Ice] sign papers. Our attorneys, through Sony, fought my case against Vanilla Ice.”

He continued, “Vanilla Ice made so much up in his mind, he actually started believing it. ‘Cause I was there; no threatening, no nothin’. We had a normal conversation. He tried to pay Suge for my flight ticket for comin’ out there to produce stuff…we sued using normal courts and attorneys. You just heard it from me. It was more than a year in the settlement of that lawsuit that Chocolate finally got paid. Doesn’t mean [Vanilla Ice] didn’t get hung over a balcony, but if he did, it didn’t make him pay.”
