Yelawolf Leaves Stage At LSU Concert After Told He Could Not Curse

Yelawolf

The same weekend Tyga controversially performed at Harvard, Yelawolf was slated to perform at Louisiana State University for their annual Groovin’ On The Grounds free spring concert on Saturday (April 13). However, the college’s newspaper, The Daily Reveille, reports that Yela did not complete his set, and instead stormed off stage. The Ghet-O-Vision/Shady/Interscope Records sensation left the stage, after he was reportedly reprimanded for the language in his set.

LSU Student Government President Taylor Cox claims this was in Yelawolf’s $17,500 contract to appear. “Apparently [Yelawolf's] management did not tell him about [the curse-free clause] until moments before his performance,” Cox believes, who also adds that Yela’s contract is null-and-void due to his failure to meet the agreement.

Lupe Fiasco, Groovin’ On The Grounds’ headline, did perform, according to reports. A week ago, Lupe ended a concert after he was struck by a glow stick thrown by a fan.

Philadelphia fifth grader searched by school officials after bringing paper gun to class

Philadelphia fifth grader searched by school officials after bringing paper gun to class

A Philadelphia fifth grader was admonished by school officials and called “murderer” by classmates for bringing a piece of paper that looked like a gun to school.

Melody Valentin was searched by a school official in front of Newlin Fell Elementary School classmates last week, she told Fox 29 in Philadelphia.

“He yelled at me and said I shouldn’t have brought the gun to school and I kept telling him it was a paper gun but he wouldn’t listen,” Melody said.

Mom Dianna Kelly pulled Melody out of the school, and is unsure whether she will send her back.

“Why did he threaten my daughter,” Kelly told Fox 29. “Why did you stand over my daughter and tell her that you should call the cops on her? You can be arrested. Why were you trying to scare her?”

Melody said she was mercilessly harassed by classmates. “They would call me a murderer,” Melody told Fox 29.

The piece of paper in question was crafted by Melody’s grandfather the day before the incident, but was not very elaborate. It was just a piece of folded paper, Dianna Kelly said.

Melody didn’t realize the piece of paper was still on her person when she took it out of her pocket. A classmate saw the “gun” and reported it to the school official.

“I’m waking up at 3 o’clock in the morning, and my daughter is in the bathroom, crying,” Dianna Kelly said. “She said ‘I’m having nightmares. I’m having dreams that he’s chasing me down the street.’”

Fox 29 could not reach school administrators for comment.

Deputies: Man stabbed wife with sword from walking cane during 911 call

Deputies Man stabbed wife with sword from walking cane during 911 call

A South Carolina woman is recovering in a Charlotte hospital after deputies say she was attacked and stabbed with the sword of a walking cane by her husband.

According to a York County Sheriff’s report, the incident happened around 1:13 a.m. Wednesday morning along the 1700 block of Ginn Road in McConnells.

Deputies say they received a 911 call from Gercene Loretta Perry who told dispatchers that her husband was trying to stab her. That’s when 911 operators say Perry “began screaming and put the phone down.”

The operator told deputies that in the background of the call they could hear a voice yelling that someone had been stabbed in the stomach.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they found Phillip Perry walking along Ginn Road. He reportedly threw himself on the ground on the side of the road and was taken into custody by deputies.

According to the report, Perry had a large amount of blood on his clothing and had injuries to his left hand and head.

When the deputies arrived at the home, Gercene Perry’s daughter told deputies that her mother had been stabbed. Perry’s niece was found outside the master bedroom with a large chef’s knife, guarding the door.

She put down the knife as deputies approached, according to the report.

Perry, who was in the bedroom, told deputies that she was sleeping when Phillip Perry came into her bedroom with a sword that was disguised as a walking cane. She stated that while she was lying in the bed, he struck her in a chopping motion.

Perry told deputies that she attempted to fight him and was able to strike him with the scabbard of the sword over the head.

That’s when she says he stabbed her in the stomach with the sword. He then ran from the home and attempted to get to his car, which deputies say was parked down the street.

Perry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, in Charlotte, to be treated for her injuries.

Along with several adults, Perry’s four-year-old granddaughter was also in the home while she was being attacked, deputies say.

Game’s Manager Says He Working On A G-Unit Reunion

TheGame

Despite rumors of a possible reunion, it’s been nearly a decade since fans last saw 50 Cent and Game share a mic. Now, in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal (via HHNM), Game’s manager says that he working to get the G-Unit team back together.

Dontay “Taydoe” Kidd revealed to Lee Hawkins that he has been working with Game and 50 Cent in an attempt to reunite the Compton emcee with his former G-Unit partners. Kidd said that while nothing is finalized yet, he believes that Game and Fif see the business sense in agreeing to a reunion.

“I can’t say it’ll happen, I can’t it won’t happen; however, from a business perspective, I’m gonna attempt to make [a reunion] happen,” Kidd said. “I think it’ll be a wise business move on both parts…I’m thinking about tours, I’m thinking about merchandise, I’m thinking about all these other things that [are] lacking in the industry, and this is the perfect timing for that…I can’t really speak for 50, but I think they’re both open; it’s just a matter of approaching it in the right way. 50 understands that he needs Game to make a G-Unit push. Game understands that if it’s gonna be a push, he needs to be involved and 50 needs to be involved…they both are business savvy. We know that 50′s a businessman, we know that Game’s a businessman. They understand that. So now, it’s only their internal egos that would stop that from happening.”

Roe v. Wade at 40: Abortion rights under fire

Roe v. Wade at 40 Abortion rights under fire

Forty years after the Roe v. Wade ruling made abortion legal in the U.S., the issue of abortion remains divisive and emotional as reproductive rights are under attack.

On Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court announced its Roe v. Wade decision in a case that had been filed by “Jane Roe,” an unmarried woman who wanted to legally end her pregnancy.

The decision, which pointed out that a woman’s constitutional right to privacy included the right to terminate her pregnancy, has saved women’s lives by making abortion safer and easier to obtain.

In 1965, 17 percent of all pregnancy and childbirth-related deaths resulted from illegal abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

In 2007, the most recent year for which information is available, six women were reported to have died from complications from legal abortions, according to the CDC, with no reported deaths resulting from illegal abortions.

Abortion is now one of the most commonly performed clinical procedures in the United States. Since 1973, an estimated 54,559,615 abortions have been performed in the U.S., according to information from the Guttmacher Institute.

The Supreme Court noted in 1992, in its Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey ruling, that “the ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive lives.”

And 40 years later, the ruling still has popular support, according to a Pew Research Center poll, with 63 percent of Americans believing that Roe v. Wade should not be completely overturned, compared to 29 percent who believe it should be. Read the rest of this entry »

Ludacris Signs Headphone Deal With Quarterback Tim Tebow

Ludacris-Tebow-hhdx

Even though pro quarterback Tim Tebow didn’t have a particularly awe-inspiring season on the New York Jets’ bench, that isn’t keeping the football star from expanding his brand. Now, in a recent article from Mashable, it appears that Ludacris has enlisted Tebow to design a line of headphones for his company Soul Electronics.

Earlier this week, Luda and Tebow unveiled Tebow’s new line of Soul Electronics headphones at 2013 International CES conference. According to the product description, Tebow’s line of headphones will feature two models – one a more sport friendly version called the Combat+, and the other made for more casual listeners called the Jet.

“I was so interested in having something comfortable I could practice on the field in before games,” said Tebow. “So many headphones can feel good and sound great, but when you’re warming up, they fall off and that is a big distraction. We came up with these Combat models to help you keep that focus. People who try them out will hopefully believe in them. We have headphones for athletes who want to train and some for those who want to fly or even sleep. They are even great for moms who are doing the dishes and listening to their country or gospel music. Whoever you are, whatever you are doing, we have something that fits you.” Read the rest of this entry »
