Meek Mill responds to Reebok & Rick Ross Issue

While speaking with Civil TV, Philly emcee Meek Mill didn’t hesitate in expressing his distaste for Reebok and their handling of the situation with Ross.
“Fuck Reebok. We wear Puma’s. That’s what we do. We wear Puma’s. As far as the Rick Ross situation with Reebok, I just don’t approve of none of that. I don’t approve of no companies trying to dip and dab in our culture and then when you make a mistake they dip out on you. So, it’s like they still making money off of our brand,” the rapper explained.
Meek even went so far as to compare the relationship with Reebok and the various artists the brand works with to that of a pimp and his women.
“I’m very against that. Ross is off of Reebok now, Reebok still gonna make money off of Ross. You know what I’m saying? Before Rick Ross and Swizz and Tyga, it was no Reebok. These companies they actually follow our culture and make money off of our culture and pay us like a pimp…And me, I’m against that,” said Meek. “Any way you fire me, we gonna tear your shit back down. Ain’t nobody wearing Reebok.”
Rick Ross was dropped from his endorsement deal with Reebok in mid-April as a result of the backlash surrounding his perceived date rape lyric on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.”

Cassidy Says He Used To Help Meek Mill Write Raps

Cassidy and Meek Mill ended 2012 with diss tracks after the former dropped “Me, Myself & iPhone” and latter responded with “Repo.”
Now, Cassidy says that his on-wax beef with the Maybach Music Group rapper is nothing personal but that their relationship runs deep. Speaking with MTV News, he said that he used to help Mill with his lyrics but that he started acting different when he signed to Maybach Music Group.
“He used to call my phone all the time, always asking me to hear his music. I actually used to help him write his raps and give him information back in the day, but ever since he got his deal, things changed,” he said. “He stopped calling me, stopped communicating, stopped doing records together — it’s like he was a whole different type of person. I reached out a couple times, I don’t know if he was just busy or if he just changed, but it wasn’t exactly the same as before he [got a deal].
“I know how it is, because I’ve been on for over 10 years, so I know how it can be sometimes, especially when you’re having your first run and a lot of attention is on you, so I didn’t feel no type of way about it,” he continued. “That’s not the reason this battle thing came about, but at the end of the day, I do feel as though it’s not how it used to be before he got on.”
Cassidy said that he thought battling would be “good for Hip Hop” by bringing back focus to lyrics and being competitive, but that it doesn’t extend beyond wax. “It’s not personal beef. I don’t wanna see anything happen to him or anybody around him,” he said. “I’m just competitive and I take my music seriously. At first I was gonna leave it alone. I thought he wanted to battle me, like he was calling me out, but when I found out he wasn’t, I left it alone — until he started tweeting certain things about me and being disrespectful.”
Judge Rules Meek Mill Cannot Tour This Month

Meek Mill has asked a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania judge to loosen travel restrictions so he doesn’t have as hard a time touring.
According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, attorneys for the Maybach Music Group rapper filed a request last Wednesday for a Philly judge to lift any ban on travel so he can have an easier time touring. Defense attorney Dennis Cogan says that Mill’s earning power is limited by the ban.
But the 25-year-old artist may not be in luck. Assistant District Attorney Noel DeSantis told The Philadelphia Inquirer that she will oppose the request, stating that he was already cut a break in serving only eight months of an 11- to 23-month sentence for being found guilty of assault, gun possession and drug charges.
“I’m out here doing good. Until I start doing bad, that’s when I think it should be a problem,” said Mill in an interview with NBC.
UPDATE: According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Municipal Court Judge Genece Brinkle ruled that Meek Mill will not be able to tour this month. He planned to appear on “The Conan O’Brien Show” on Wednesday before jetting to Africa, but his tour will now “be limited to the streets of North Philadelphia.”
