Lil Wayne Signs His Daughter Reginae Carter To Young Money

Reginae

Lil Wayne has signed his 14-year-old daughter Reginae Carter to his Young Money imprint.

During an interview with Rap-Up.com, YM president Mack Maine said that in addition to signing PJ Morton, Torion Sellers and We The Future, the label has snatched up Reginae and expects her to be a “megastar.”

“Wayne’s daughter, Reginae, is actually signed to Young Money now,” he said. “Just expect greatness. She’s Toya [Wright's] daughter and Wayne’s daughter, so that’s a great combination. She’s a star, put it like that. A megastar.”

Reginae was previously a member of the OMG Girlz, a girl group put together by Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and Kiesha Miles in 2009. In November, she celebrated her 14th birthday with a skate party attended by Wayne, Lauren London and Nivea.

Her famous father is currently prepping the release of his upcoming album I Am Not a Human Being II, releasing March 26th.

Mack Maine Says Lil Wayne’s “I Am Not A Human Being II” Is “Insane,” Updates On Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same”

Young Money president Mack Maine touches on a handful of projects coming out of the camp.

Young Money is gearing up for a busy 2013, with few releases already dotting the schedule.

During an interview with Rap-Up, the label’s president Mack Maine spoke on Lil Wayne’s upcoming I Am Not a Human Being II (March 26th), describing the project as “Wayne being Wayne” and stating that he goes into a different mental space with installments of the series.

“Wayne being Wayne. Greatness. It’s lyrically insane,” he said. “When he does the I Am Not a Human Being, he actually taps into a different part of his brain where he just talks out of his mind and out of this world. So just expect him being Wayne, but more edgy, saying what he wants, a lot of fun, you know, a lot of high energy.”

Mack, who also said that another YMCMB compilation is on the way, touched on the unique cover art for IANAHB II, designed by Kanye West’s DONDA creative content company. He said that while ‘Ye doesn’t have any tracks on the album, Weezy was such a fan of the work he did for 2 Chainz’s Based on a T.R.U. Story that he enlisted his services to design the artwork for the upcoming album.

“Kanye has actually established himself as a designer, and Wayne wanted him on there. We don’t have a Kanye track on there, so we improvised and we got a cover from him,” he said. “He did 2 Chainz’s cover, and we liked 2 Chainz’s cover too. Kanye’s great, he’s brilliant.”

While he said that Drake’s Nothing Was the Same is currently without a release date, Mack revealed that he’s heard a few cuts from the project and that it could drop in the summer. “He’s on the same pace as he always is to drop a classic. He’s like 10 songs in,” shared Mack. “Knowing him, that’s only like 4 songs, he probably won’t keep 6 of them. He’s a perfectionist though.”

Young Money releases have been sparse over the past few years. Last year, the imprint only released Tyga’s Careless World: Rise of the Last King, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and its addendum Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up.

Los Angeles Promoter Suing Lil Wayne Over Assault With A Skateboard

It looks like Lil Wayne is back in legal hot water over an alleged assault with a skateboard.

In a recent report from LA Weekly, it appears that Los Angeles promoter Alfredo Marino is preparing to sue Weezy over a reported assault. Marino claims that in May 2012, a member of the YMCMB rapper’s entourage hit him over the head with a skateboard.

Marino recalls that he saw Wayne and his entourage skating in Los Angeles, and approached them with the hopes of getting his picture taken with the rapper. After repeated requests, Marino says that Wayne became angry and ordered one of his bodyguards to attack him.

“I was star-struck,” Marino told LA Weekly. “I was like ‘Cool, cool, cool!’…[his bodyguards] started tripping and saying, ‘I told you that Lil Wayne does not want to be bothered.’ I told them I have taken pictures of tons of people and I just want to show my friends that I saw Lil Wayne. They started calling me a ‘groupie’ and I said, ‘I ain’t no groupie’…Lil Wayne had enough, I guess, and he rolled up on a skateboard and he said, ‘Alright motherfucker, you want to take a picture like a groupie? Like a little bitch? Like a little girl? Is that what you want?’”

He continued, “I couldn’t believe he was telling me this. I actually started laughing. I didn’t take it seriously. I told him I just wanted a picture and that I’m a promoter. But he said, ‘I don’t want to hear that shit. You’re nothing but a groupie bitch to me.’”

It was following this exchange that Marino says one of Wayne’s entourage picked up a skateboard and hit him over the head with it, knocking him unconscious. He was later treated at a nearby hospital for a concussion and vertigo.

“Honestly, I’m not trying to be a millionaire for getting smacked over the head,” Marino said. “I want him to realize that there are fans out there, tons of fans out there and this is the way he’s going to treat them?…I’m a big Hip Hop fan, and I loved Lil Wayne’s music. Now I hate his music. But I’m kind of like in the zone that everywhere I go I see Lil Wayne. I see him on TV. I hear him every damn day on the radio. I can’t get away from this guy. It disgusts me.”

In an earlier report from DX, Wayne was quoted as having told Marino that, “Don’t you know all it takes is a word and these motherfuckers are going to fuck you up?”

This isn’t the first time the rapper’s entourage has been accused of assault. Last year, Weezy’s bodyguards were accused of attacking a photographer in Miami while the rapper was skating.

Drake To Release First Single From New Album On Grammy Awards Night

Drake

Drake is prepping the release of his new single, slated to impact on the night of the Grammy Awards (February 10th).

According to Billboard, the Young Money rapper has titled the track either “The Start From the Bottom” or “Started From the Bottom.” The single will be the first from Drizzy’s untitled third album, reportedly releasing this year. Pictures of Drake on the set of a video shoot surfaced earlier this month, possibly for the track.

Speaking on Grammy night, Cash Money Records co-CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams previously said, “This year we got something in store. We got a new record coming out this year. It’s just one of those nights that, after seeing each other together, that’ll be like the highlight of our night, the highlight of our life, the highlight of our year.”

Drake previously released his sophomore album Take Care in November 2011. The project has sold 1.9 million copies to date and spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
